What is ILOE Insurance?

Involuntary Loss of Employment (ILOE) Insurance is a mandatory insurance scheme in the UAE that provides financial support to employees who lose their jobs involuntarily. The scheme was introduced in 2022 to protect employees from financial hardship during periods of unemployment.

Who needs to be covered?

If you are an Emirati or resident working in the federal government or private sector in the UAE, then you should be covered by ILOE insurance. 

Exemptions

  • Investors (owners of companies they work at)
  • Domestic helpers
  • Temporary-contract workers
  • Juveniles under the age of 18
  • Retirees who are entitled to a pension and joined a new job
